Public Meeting — June 30, 2023 The West Orange Township Council meeting began at 12:37 p.m., Karen Carnevale, Municipal Clerk read the following statement: This is to inform the general public that this meeting is being held in compliance with Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, Public Law 1975. The 48-hour notice was emailed to the Star Ledger and the West Orange Chronicle on June 28, 2023. Roll Call — Councilwoman Casalino, Councilwoman Ghebremicael, Councilman Rutherford, Councilwoman Scarpa, Council President Williams The Administration including Mayor McCartney, Bill Kehoe-Director of Recreation, Fire Chief Anthony Vecchio, Police Chief James Abbott, Hayden Moore-Superintendent of Schools and Nick Allegrino-OEM Coordinator made a presentation with regard to the upcoming Fireworks display for the Township. The Council members were given the opportunity to ask questions and voice their concerns. Public Comment Micaela Bennett — Old Indian Road Christine Bosco — Masson Avenue Zasha Kademi — Dawes Avenue Rachel Keane — Schmitt Road Resolution 254-23 Resolution Permitting Display of Fireworks at Degnan Field/West Orange High School (Legal-Moon) This resolution permits the W.O. Recreation Department to display fireworks on July 4, 2023 with a rain date of July 5, 2023. On motion made by Council President Williams seconded by Councilwoman Ghebremicael, the above referenced resolution was approved. All members voting “Aye.” At 1:31 p.m., on motion made by Council President Williams seconded by Councilwoman Ghebremicael, the meeting was adjourned. All members present voting “Aye.” Mayor McCartney thanked everyone for their participation in today’s meeting. The Minutes of this meeting are on file in the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
