27-10 February 9, 2010 ACCEPTANCE RESOLUTION Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Funding Under the Provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act WHEREAS, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) under the provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and administered by the United States Department of Energy presents the Township of West Orange, in the County of Essex, State of New Jersey, with a unique opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of the community, reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, and create or maintain jobs in difficult economic times; and WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange strives to save tax dollars, assure clean land, air and water, improve working and living environments; and WHEREAS, the offered EECBG funding in the amount of $175,800.00 is a no-match grant to the Township of West Orange to make progress on energy efficiency and sustainability; and WHEREAS, the EECBG funding will be used in part to complete a required Energy Efficiency and Conservation Plan compiled by the E.J. Bloustein School at Rutgers University at a cost of $20,000.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Township Council of the Township of West Orange, County of Essex, State of New Jersey, does hereby accept the EECBG funding in the amount of $175,800.00.
