29-10 February 9, 2010 ACCEPTANCE RESOLUTION FY2010 JUVENILE JUSTICE PROGRAMS GRANT ESSEX COUNTY YOUTH SERVICES COMMISSION WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange in the County of Essex, has been granted funding from the Essex County Department of Citizen Services’ Youth Services Commission to support the 2010 West Orange Junior Police Academy (JPA); and WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange in the County of Essex, hereby acknowledges the importance of teaching the children of West Orange discipline, respect and teamwork, while learning about the ramifications and perils of poor decision-making and the life-long effects it can cause. The JPA program is structured so that the children obtain an understanding of the law and experience an age-appropriate pseudo police academy where they take part in interactive law enforcement programs, conflict resolution sessions, and self-esteem building activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Township Council of the Township of West Orange does hereby consent to the authorization of the Essex County Youth Services Commission agreement and any other documents necessary in connection therewith. It is understood that this grant being awarded to the Township of West Orange in the amount of $18,563.00 does not require a cash match.
