70-10 March 23, 2010 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the winter snow storms and the late winter nor’easter of March 13 and 14, 2010 have adversely affected portions of the Township’s infrastructure; and WHEREAS, a portion of the Township’s easterly trunk sewer behind Hillside Terrace near the border with Orange and South Orange deteriorated resulting in a sink hole behind 535 and 537 Hillside Terrace; and WHEREAS, the deteriorated sanitary trunk sewer and sinkhole adversely affect the public health and welfare; and WHEREAS, to avoid further deterioration of the trunk sewer the Municipal Engineer recommends an emergency improvement be made to sewer line; and WHEREAS, the firm of Grabowski Construction, Inc. of 770 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, N.J. submitted a proposal dated March 16, 2010 in the amount of $18,700.00 to make the emergency improvements to the easterly trunk sewer; and WHEREAS, Grabowski Construction, Inc. has the ability to mobilize quickly once authorized and conditions will allow access to the trunk sewer; and WHEREAS, the Municipal Engineer recommend a contract for this emergency work be awarded to Grabowski Construction, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange that the Professional Services of the firm of Grabowski Construction, Inc. of West Orange be obtained to perform an emergency improvement to the easterly trunk sewer located behind 535 and 537 Hilliside Terrace in accordance with their proposal dated March 16, 2010 for a fee of $18,700.00.
