184-10 July 20, 2010 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on February 3, 1998, the Township Council adopted Ordinance 1492-98, creating the Township of West Orange Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Team, also known as the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT); and WHEREAS, the DVRT became effective December 18, 1998; and WHEREAS, the DVRT serves a critical role in counseling and assisting victim’s of domestic violence; and WHEREAS, the DVRT has become an integral part of the Police Department’s response to incidents involving Domestic Violence; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has requested an increase of volunteers to the DVRT to adequately handle the number of incidents; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has certified that each of the new DVRT volunteers has successfully undergone police background checks and fulfilled all of the other obligations and responsibilities to serve in the program; and WHEREAS, the names and addresses of these volunteers must be kept confidential to protect the safety and integrity of the program; and WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended the appointment of the new DVRT members. NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the Township of West Orange hereby designates and appoints the new persons listed on the attached DVRT roster to serve as volunteers for the purposes of fulfilling Ordinance 1492-98.
