188-10 July 20, 2010 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on July 1, 2010, a vacancy was created on the Township Council of the Township of West Orange by the Election of Robert D. Parisi to the Office of Mayor; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parisi resigned the Office of Township Council before being sworn in as Mayor on July 1, 2010; and WHEREAS, pursuant to New Jersey Municipal Vacancy Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:16-1 et seq.) the remaining members of the Township Council are empowered to temporarily fill the vacancy; and WHEREAS, the Township Council publicized the impending vacancy at its public meeting on June 15, 2010 and solicited resumes by June 25, 2010; and WHEREAS, the Township Council posted the vacancy on the Township's website and Cable Access Network, TV 36; and WHEREAS, the Township Council received four (4) resumes for consideration; and WHEREAS, a majority of the Township Council have chosen to appoint ___________________ to temporarily fill the vacancy until the election of a permanent replacement to fill the balance of Mr. Parisi's term on the Township Council at a general election which will be held in November, 2010; and WHEREAS, ________________ possesses all the qualifications required to qualify for election as a Township Council person; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange that ________________ be and is hereby appointed to temporarily fill the vacancy on the Township Council created by the Election of Robert D. Parisi to the Office of Mayor pending the election of a permanent replacement to fill the
