Geotechnical Engineering Investigation Report JMA02P003.05- 08/19/2025 262-270 Main St 1 Introduction Hudson Engineering, LLC (HE) was engaged by Jorge Mastropietro Architects to perform a Geotechnical Investigation for the new development at 262-270 Main St West Orange, NJ,07052 (Block: 114 Lot: 50-55) in Essex County, New Jersey (“Project Site”). The proposed development will consist of a new supermarket and parking lot. The geotechnical investigation included an initial desktop review of local geology along with two (2) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Borings. A project site map with all locations of performed tests has been provided in Appendix This Geotechnical Recommendations Report (Report) summarizes the information gathered from reference sources, a soil testing program conducted on May 29, 2025, and lab results from samples collected during the testing program in order to provide project-specific data and geotechnical recommendations to assist the design and construction of the proposed 262-270 Main St development. 2 Investigation 2.1 Desk Study Prior to the field investigation, Hudson Engineering conducted a desktop study of the local geology within the project area using publicly available references including published maps and online geological databases. These references included the review of the surficial geological mapping provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for the project area, review of the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS) Web Soil Survey application, and the NJDOT Historic Boring Data. These references were used to give Hudson Engineering insight on possible soil conditions that could be expected at the site prior to conducting field investigations of the site. 2.2 Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) Hudson Engineering oversaw the geotechnical standard penetration tests (SPT’s) to advance the two (2) geotechnical soil borings (B-1 and B-2) at the project site on May 29, 2025. 2.2.1 Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) Methodology Each soil boring was advanced to split-spoon refusal using a track rig to collect soil samples using the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Method with mud rotary advancement. Fourteen to eighteen inches long soil samples were collected

split-spoon refusal using a track rig to collect soil samples using the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) Method with mud rotary advancement. Fourteen to eighteen inches long soil samples were collected continuously until the termination depth. In each case, Borings were completed in accordance with ASTM standard D1586 and D6151. Upon completion, each borehole was backfilled to its existing grade with either soil cuttings, bentonite chips, concrete, or a combination thereof. All subsurface explorations were observed and logged and were directed by Hudson Engineering, LLC. 2.3 Laboratory Testing Representative soil samples collected within our investigation program were submitted to a licensed geotechnical laboratory for testing of material index properties in accordance with their applicable ASTM standards. A summary of laboratory testing data is provided in each section below. The as-received laboratory results are provided in Appendix C: Laboratory Testing Results. 1
