176-18 July 17, 2018 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the Township Council by Resolution No. 178-17 dated August 15, 2017 awarded the contract 2017 Street Improvements Phase IV in the amount of $2,055,200.72 to Reggio Construction, Inc., 1575 West Street, Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024; and WHEREAS, the Township Engineer by letter dated July 10, 2018 recommended Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $189,356.00 be authorized to allow the improvement of three streets - Walker Road from Undercliff Terrace South to its lower intersection with Burnett Terrace, Porter Road and Sheffield Terrace – where New Jersey American Water Company and Public Service Electric and Gas Company recently installed new utilities; and WHEREAS, the utility companies will make a direct contribution towards this work totaling $119,110.00 and an in kind contribution of $18,500.00; and WHEREAS, the Township Engineer due to conditions of the roadways requests this Change Order so these improvements can be made within the next several weeks which could not be achieved if a separate contract was bid; and WHEREAS, the Township Engineer by letter dated July 10, 2018 recommended Change Order No. 1 as necessary and beneficial; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds exist for this work under Change Order No. 1; and WHEREAS, the Township Council concurs in the foregoing. NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange that Change Order No. 1 for the contract 2017 Street Improvements Phase IV with Reggio Construction, Inc., 1575 West Street, Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024 in the amount of $189,356.00 which represents a 9.21 percent increase in the original contract is hereby approved.
