189-13 October 10, 2013 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, there is certain real property used for office condominiums, located at Block 166, Lot 13 in the Township, also known as 745 Northfield Avenue (the “Property”); and WHEREAS, the referenced Block and Lot is used as a “Master Card,” meaning that it states the number of condominium spaces in the complex or building, the acreage of the land, and is strictly for informational purposes only and has no value; and WHEREAS, the revaluation company mistook the Master Card for a taxable line item and mistakenly placed a value on it; and WHEREAS, the Township’s Tax Assessor has verified that a tax assessment on the Property was erroneously made on the Property due to this mistake made during revaluation; and WHEREAS, the Property has erroneously accrued tax assessments from the third quarter of 2012 through the second quarter of 2013 in the amount of $49,872.35 to date; and WHEREAS, the Township’s Tax Assessor has stated that the mistaken assessment on the Property has already been removed and that the accrued taxes should be cancelled; NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange that the Tax Collector be and is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to cause to be cancelled the amount of $49,872.35, representing the amount of taxes which have erroneously accrued for the Property.
