267-22 October 25, 2022 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Article 5, Chapter 32 of the Municipal Code for the Township of West Orange (the “Township”) governs the application process and issuance of licenses for towing companies to operate within the Township; and WHEREAS, the Township currently has two (2) licensees, including: (1) C&L Towing Services at 517 Prospect Street in East Orange, NJ; and (2) Twin Towing at 1 Lakeside Avenue in West Orange, NJ (the “Licensees”) which perform towing services within the Township which are scheduled to expire on October 30, 2022; and WHEREAS, the Township is exploring revisions to the requirements for towing services within the Township and requires additional time to adopt the appropriate ordinances for those revisions to effectuate before proceeding with the latest application process for new towing licenses; and WHEREAS, the Licensees have agreed to extend their licenses until the Township awards the new towing licenses after adoption of the appropriate ordinances revising the requirements for towing services. NOW, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange that the Township authorizes the extension of the Licensees’ towing licenses on a temporary basis until such time as the Township awards its new towing licenses, but which shall not exceed ninety (90) days.
