2843--24 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY that Chapter 10, Section 2.5 of the Revised General Ordinances of the Township of West Orange be and are hereby amended as follows: I. PURPOSE The purpose of this ordinance is to modify the fees set forth in Chapter 10, Section 2.5 of the Revised General Ordinances of the Township of West Orange (the “Township Code”) regarding the licensure of dogs to add an additional fee to be amendable by Resolution for licensure potentially dangerous dogs. II. CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2.5 SHALL BE AND HEREBY IS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED TO INCORPORATE THE FOLLOWING: §10-2.5 BE AND HEREBY AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: • The portion entitled “Fees” which specifies the license fee applicable for a dog license and dog registration fee application shall be repealed and replaced by the following language: The following fees are applicable to dog license and dog registration fee applications: a. The person applying for a license shall pay a fee in an amount prescribed by Resolution. These same fees shall apply and be charged with the annual renewal of each license and registration fee. b. In addition, a late fee in an amount prescribed by Resolution will be charged to any person who submits an application on or after March 1 of any calendar year for a renewal of a license for a dog required to be licensed under subsection § 10-2.1a. Such fee shall be charged to each late application submitted. c. The fee for a potentially dangerous dog license shall be set forth by Resolution in accordance with N.J.S.A. 4:19-31. III. REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES Any Ordinances of the Township which are in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. IV. SEVERABILITY

2 4848-4827-0498, v. 1 If any part of this Ordinance shall be deemed invalid, such parts shall be severed and the invalidity thereof shall not affect the remaining parts of this Ordinance. V. EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication in accordance with the law.

3 4848-4827-0498, v. 1 Legislative History This Ordinance supersedes and amends Ordinance 2783-23 to add an additional fee for the licensure of potentially dangerous dogs. The fees set forth herein shall be modified by Resolution at the approval of the Township Council.
