2897-25 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 7, TRAFFIC, SUBSECTION 7-23.1, TURN PROHIBITIONS, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST ORANGE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Township Council of the Township of West Orange, in the County of Essex, State of New Jersey as follows: Section 1. Subsection 7-23.1, Turn Prohibitions, of the Revised General Ordinances of the Township of West Orange is hereby supplemented and amended as follows: (italic type denotes deletion, bold type denotes addition): Intersection Turn Hours/ Movement Prohibited Prohibited Days Glenview Drive and Left All Southbound on Glenview Drive Northfield Avenue to Eastbound on Northfield Avenue Section 2. If any provisions of this Ordinance or application thereof, under any circumstances, is held invalid, the invalidity shall not affect any of the provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given effect without the valid provision(s) or application and to this end, the provisions of this Ordinance are severable. Section 3. All other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication in accordance with law and approved by the County of Essex, Board of Chosen Freeholders. 2897-25 LEGISLATIVE HISTORY This Ordinance will prohibit left turns from Glenview Drive southbound to Northfield Avenue eastbound during all hours. This Prohibition was requested by the West Orange Police Traffic Division after two recent auto/pedestrian accidents. There is an unregulated pedestrian crossing at this intersection that allows residents of the neighborhood to cross Northfield to the eastbound side to access the bus stop. This Ordinance is designed to make pedestrian safety a priority.
