1 Conference Meeting – June 14, 2016 The Township Council of the Township of West Orange met in the Council Chambers, Municipal Building, and 66 Main Street, West Orange, New Jersey at 6:36 p.m. Karen J. Carnevale, Municipal Clerk, read the following statement: This is to inform the general public that this meeting is being held in compliance with Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Public Law, 1975. A notice of this meeting was emailed to the Star Ledger and the West Orange Chronicle on October 14, 2015. Roll Call: Present: Councilwoman Casalino, Councilman Guarino, Councilman Krakoviak, Councilwoman McCartney and Council President Cirilo Councilwoman McCartney presented a Citation to the West Orange Women’s Club and Councilman Guarino presented a Citation to the West Orange United Soccer U14B Flight Champions – Eagles. A presentation was made by the West Orange Police Department and the West Orange Law Department about Operation Hope and Integrity House. The Township wishes to execute an agreement with Integrity House, a drug treatment center in New Jersey and implement Operation Hope. Operation Hope is a voluntary program which seeks to reduce the impact of heroin and opiate abuse while encouraging those who suffer from addiction to seek help and experience recovery. Marc Ackerman, Director of Outpatient Services, Integrity House spoke about the program along with many members of the Township’s clergy, Fire Chief Peter Smeraldo, Patty Duffy-Welfare Director and Theresa DeNova-Health Officer all encouraging the Township Council to approve resolution 139-16 on tonight’s agenda. Megan Brill, Executive Director of the Downtown West Orange Alliance commented on the Street Fair held on June 4, 2016 and thanked the many departments that helped out that day and spoke about upcoming events. Joe Fagan, Township Historian updated the Council on the Historic Marker Initiative.
