Show all pagesPB-16-05C Sea Turtle Recovery Exhibit 3. Applicant called Darrell F. Alvarez, PE, RA who testified that Applicant proposed a new one-story structure of approximately 2,800 sq ft for the purpose of rehabilitation for injured sea turtles. The building would have a triage area as well as an ICU room and rehabilitation area. A separate area will be for zoo patrons observe the animals. The new building and exterior walkways would meet accessibility requirements. The proposal was described on Sheets T-1, SP-1, SK-1, SK-2, SK-3 prepared by Comito Associates dated April 5, 2016. PB-16-06C Prairie Dog Exhibit 4. Applicant introduced Michael Piga, LLA who was sworn and qualified as a licensed landscape architect. Mr. Piga stated that Applicant proposed to rehabilitate the existing Prairie Dog Exhibit located within the zoo. The rehabilitation will consist of increasing the height of the glass barrier around the exhibit, removing existing concrete and install stamped concrete, adding mushroom themed stools and tables, adding a new rubber mulch surface to be used by visitors and finally replacing the existing wood split rail fence with a new split rail fence and additional landscaping. The proposal was described on Site Plan for Prairie Dog Exhibit Conservation Area prepared by French and Parrello dated February 17, 2016. PB-16-07C New Shade Structures Over Amphitheatre and Sea Lion 5. Applicant recalled Mr. Piga who described the proposed renovations which involve adding shading structures to cast shade over portions of the Sea Lion exhibit and Amphitheatre all as set forth on the Concept Plan for Shade Structures prepared by French & Parrello dated April 5, 2016. 6. The Board finds that the proposed projects and capital improvements are not contrary to the Master Plan of the Township of West Orange.
