182-10 July 20, 2010 SUSTAINABLE JERSEY SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the no-match Sustainable Jersey Small Grants Program, sponsored by Wal- Mart Stores, Inc., the New Jersey League of Municipalities Education Foundation, and the NJLM Mayors’ Committee for a Green Future, is intended to support New Jersey municipalities in instituting greening and sustainability initiatives; and WHEREAS, a sustainable community seeks to optimize quality of life for its residents by ensuring that its environmental, economic and social objectives are balanced and mutually supportive; and WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange strives to save tax dollars, assure clean land, air, and water and improve working and living environments; and WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange wishes to pursue local initiatives and actions and is participating in the Sustainable Jersey program that will lead to Sustainable Jersey Municipal Certification; and WHEREAS, the Township of West Orange is eligible and should apply for one of ten (10) $10,000.00 grants or one of four (4) $25,000.00 grants; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Township Council of the Township of West Orange does hereby consent to the submission of a no-match Sustainable Jersey Small Grant application and any other documents in connection therewith.
