Show all pagesRESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Hp COUNTY OF ESSEX C RESOLUTION NO. a -03S -0 | (a = AUTHORITY FOR RESOLUTION NuJ.S.A. 40:414-38(q) PROPOSED BY: ACCLAMATION AUTHORITY FORACTION CCE 2-11 (C) SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AMENDING R-2025-01040 “RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PRESERVATION OF THE FOREST ON THE SECOND WATCHUNG MOUNTAIN RIDGE” WHEREAS, resolution #R-2025-01040, passed on October 8, 2025, by the Essex County Board of County Commissioners, entitled “Resolution in Support of the Preservation of the Forest on the Second Watchung Mountain Ridge”, is to be amended for accuracy in its substantiating clauses; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Essex County Board of Commissioners hereby amends resolution #R-2025-01040, passed on October 8, 2025, to read the following, amended language underlined: “WHEREAS, waters from this forested land feed the Canoe Brook tributary and replenish critical aquifers that contribute to the New Jersey American Water supply and the Essex Fells Water System supply, providing drinking water for 2.9 million New Jersey residents, in more than 190 communities; and Dos] WHEREAS, roughly 107,000 residents in various communities receive their drinking water from the Canoe Brook or the aquifers fed from this forested site, including the Essex County municipalities of South Orange, Maplewood, Millburn, Livingston, and West Orange, Essex Fells, Caldwell, North Caldwell, and Roseland; and WHEREAS, residents in additional Essex County municipalities rely on these critical resources for their backup drinking water supply needs; and”; and be it further RESOLVED, that copies of the amended resolution #R-2025-01040 shall be transmitted to the Mayor, Town Council members, and Planning Board members of West Orange.
