4 4848-4827-0498, v. 1 2671-21 Legislative History The purpose of this ordinance is to correct and clarify Ordinance 2658-21 adopted on October 12, 2021 which established an alternate route appointment for entry level appointments for the West Orange Police Department as authorized under N.J.S.A. 11A:4-1.3(a). This ordinance corrects and clarifies the ordinance to provide that the nepotism policy governing appointments and hiring is for application when utilizing the alternate route appointment process and shall not apply to officers appointed through the Civil Service examination.
