ROBERT R. FIORILE Vice President/Technical Director – Ecological and Regulatory Services Professional Qualifications Robert Fiorile is a Senior Scientist with more than 30 years of experience working in the environmental field. Responsible for the completion of environmental reviews, ecological studies/surveys, natural resource inventories, and State and Federal environmental permit applications, Mr. Fiorile has served various client types with an emphasis on environmental assessments and impact statements in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as well as NY and NJ State environmental review regulations. He is also highly skilled in preparing permit applications for complex projects involving activities regulated under various State’s freshwater wetlands protection programs, flood hazard area control programs, coastal zone management programs, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 10 and 404 programs. Mr. Fiorile’s experience includes various types of terrestrial and aquatic ecological studies/surveys, including watershed management plans, lake diagnostic-feasibility studies, lake restoration/management programs, nuisance aquatic species control programs, wetland delineations, seagrass surveys, shellfish surveys, acid soils surveys, and seagrass and wetland mitigation/restoration. Professional Experience Nellie Bennett Marsh Restoration Plan, Point Pleasant, Ocean County, NJ - Project Manager currently responsible for ecological and engineering services for the completion of site assessments, resource surveys, stakeholder outreach coordination, and preliminary design for the stabilization of 2,600 feet of eroding shoreline and the restoration of 20 acres of tidal salt marsh in upper Barnegat Bay. Matrix is working with the Barnegat Bay Partnership (BBP) and their project stakeholders to develop a comprehensive living shoreline and saltmarsh restoration design plan for Nellie Bennett Marsh, which is currently undergoing subsidence and edge erosion. Our design focuses on developing a phased approach for the protection of the entire marsh complex that can be implemented in phases as funding allows and that is adaptable as effects of climate change and sea level rise are realized over time.
