Request for Proposals: South Valley Road Corridor West Orange Township, Essex County, New Jersey 240345 December 2, 2024 Page 2 of 9 SECTION I – SCOPE OF SERVICES TASK 1 – Crosswalk Evaluation– South Valley Road & Ridgeview Avenue / Meeker Street Per MUTCD guidelines, this task will first consist of a field visit to the intersection of South Valley Road and Ridgeview Avenue / Meeker Street to evaluate the intersection for the addition of a crosswalk across South Valley Road. This review will identify potential locations for the crosswalk, taking into account vehicular and pedestrian sight lines; existing on street parking; and existing infrastructure, such as curb ramps, utilities, drainage and private driveways. Based on the results of the field visit, BVE will prepare a suitably illustrated letter report detailing our findings and recommendations. This will include a concept sketch which will identify the most appropriate location for a proposed crosswalk and an order of magnitude cost estimate for construction budgeting purposes. TASK 2 – South Valley Road Signing and Striping Evaluation This task will include a review of the existing signing and striping along South Valley Road from south of Luddington Road to Wellington Avenue with the intent of identifying any missing or obsolete signage and identify recommendations for additional signs / striping where appropriate. Our results will be provided in a brief report of findings which will include a concept sketch showing recommended changes and improvements to the existing traffic control along the corridor.
