The following is added to this subsection: 4. SAWCUT This work shall consist of making longitudinal and transverse cuts in existing pavement as directed by the engineer. Sawcuts shall be made with an approved power saw full depth in order to prevent damage to the existing pavement, sidewalk, driveways or curbs and to provide a neat edge for the adjacent proposed sidewalk, driveways or curbs as shown on the plans or as directed by the engineer. 202.04 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT THIS SUBSECTION IS CHANGED TO: The Township will measure and make payment for Items as follows: Item Pay Unit EXCAVATION, UNCLASSIFIED (IF AND WHERE DIRECTED) CUBIC YARD EXCAVATION, TEST PIT (IF AND WHERE DIRECTED) CUBIC YARD REMOVAL OF PAVEMENT, UP TO 6" DEEP (IF AND WHERE DIRECTED) SQUARE YARD EXCAVATION, BASE REPAIR 12” DEEP (IF AND WHERE DIRECTED) SQUARE YARD ROCK EXCAVATION (IF AND WHERE DIRECTED) CUBIC YARD The contractor may discover that existing roadway may contain existing concrete base or cobble stone and shall make all necessary rquirements for its removal where necessary. The cost for this work shall be included in the cost of excavation, unclassified. The quantity for roadway excavation will be measured by the cubic yard. The Engineer or the Engineer's representative must be present during the excavation to determine and record the limits of roadway excavation. Any over excavation completed without the supervision of the Engineer or the Engineer's representative will not be considered for payment. THE FOLLOWING SECTION IS ADDED TO THE SPECIFICATIONS: SECTION 204 - DISPOSAL OF CONTAMINATED SOIL 204.01 GENERAL The specifications outlined herein are for the testing, removal and disposal of contaminated soils that may be encountered during the excavation and site grading. Any materials that are suspected to contain contamination shall be tested, classified, and disposed in accordance with the applicable local and State regulations. If required, the Township's environmental consultant, Matrix New World Engineering Inc. (Matrix) would provide available waste classification analyses. All necessary soil testing will be performed by the Township Engineer/Matrix. A Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) shall be

The testing results will be provided to the contractor for proper handling and disposal of contaminated soils to an approved disposal facility. This project is not currently subject to the NJDEP Site Remediation Program. Contaminated or impacted soils encountered during construction shall be managed in accordance with applicable waste handling and disposal regulations. If conditions are encountered that indicate a discharge has occurred or require remediation under NJDEP regulations, the Engineer will notify NJDEP and retain a LSRP as required. 22
