Apply a factory finish coating over the freshly galvanized surface of all materials so noted on the contract plans. Follow the guidelines of the American Galvanizers Association publication “Painting over Galvanized Structural Steel.” The applicator shall be a company specializing in Duplex Coating and having a minimum of five years’ experience with coating galvanized steel with a “wet paint’ method. The applicator will provide previous Duplex coated references. Before the coating work is started, the finish coat applicator shall submit to the Township a color chart of the paint manufacturer which is to be used. Upon color selection, and before commencing work on the coating, submit a 3" x 5" galvanized steel sample plate, coated with the production materials to be used to the Township for final color, gloss and finish quality approval. The coating shall consist of the following paints, manufactured by International Protective Coatings, or approved equal: a. Intercure 420 as base primer, and b. Interthane 990 finish coat. Apply paint per manufacturer specifications. Surfaces to be painted shall be dry and free from dust, dirt, oil, grease of other contaminants. Apply paint coatings as soon as practicable after galvanizing. The target timeframe is to apply the primer within 24 hours of hot-dip galvanizing. The paint shall be applied under conditions within the following tolerances during the complete finishing process: Air temperature 50 degrees F min. and 90 degrees F max. 14. Steel surface temperature 50 degrees F min. and 100 degrees F max. 2. Humidity 65% max. 3. Steel temperature at least 5 degrees F above the dew point. The typical thickness of the Intercure 420 coating will be 4 to 7 mils. The Interthane 990 coating will be 2 to 3 mil dry equivalent. 912.02 COATINGS 912,03 PERMANENT TRAFFIC STRIPES AND MARKINGS 912.0302 Traffic Markings THIS SUBSECTION HEADING IS CHANGED TO: 912.03,02 Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Markings THE FOLLOWING IS ADDED: The material shall be a mixture of resins and other materials providing an essentially nonvolatile thermoplastic compound especially developed for traffic markings. The thermoplastic material shall be 100 percent solids. The binder shall consist of thermoplastic resins and plasticizers, and shall be homogeneously incorporated with all necessary pigments, fillers and glass beads to produce a

hall be 100 percent solids. The binder shall consist of thermoplastic resins and plasticizers, and shall be homogeneously incorporated with all necessary pigments, fillers and glass beads to produce a traffic coating to meet the requirements as specified herein. The thermoplastic extruded material shall produce a line of 90-100 mils thickness. When the thermoplastic material has been formulated for spray application, apply at a minimum of 350 degree F to produce a line of 30-35 mils thickness. 56
