SECTION 917 — LANDSCAPING MATERIALS 917.01 TOPSOIL 4, Gradation/Particle Size Sand (2.0 mm to 0.05 mm) 40-65 Silt (0.05 mm to 0.005 mm) 25 - 60 Clay (0.005 mm and smaller) 5-20 Material outside of these ranges is not suitable for use as topsoil. REPLACE THE LAST SENTENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING: The Contractor will sample topsoil at a rate of at least 1 sample per source to ensure conformance to the requirements above subparagraphs 2, 3, & 4. The RE may also choose to have the topsoil tested at a Department approved testing facility. If the topsoil is found to fall outside the parameters set in this Subsection, the Contractor shall amend the soil and further tests shall be taken to show the soil meets the parameters. No additional payment will be made for the testing or required soil amendments. TABLE 917.01-2 IS REVISED AS FOLLOWS: Table 917.01-2 Particle Size Distribution for Topsoil Particle Size Percent 917.10 PLANT MATERIALS A. Nomenclature. THE FOLLOWING IS ADDED: All tree material supplied shall be of “tree form” with a straight central leader and free of branches to 5 feet above the ground, unless otherwise directed by the RE. SECTION 919 — MISCELLANEOUS 919.14 DETECTABLE WARNING SURFACE THE FOLLOWING IS ADDED TO THIS SECTION: For detectable warning surface installed in new concrete surface, submit for approval a pre-formed material that is cast into the concrete. Material to be of a rigid composite such as Vitrified Polymer Composite (VPC) or polyester resin fiberglass reinforced (SMC) Detectable/Tactile Warning Surface tile that imbeds in the concrete. Surface applied tiles to be used when installing over existing concrete or on HMA, as directed by RE. The installation of the tiles is to be in accordance with the tile manufacturer's specifications. Tiles must be able to be cut or fabricated to fit curves in ramps to meet the coverage and 57
