2903-25 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10, SECTIONS 2 AND 11 OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST ORANGE REGARDING ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DOG AND CAT LICENSING FOR MULTI-FAMILY HOMES AND VETERINARIANS Deleted: ____-24 Formatted: Centered BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY that Chapter 10, Section 2 et seq. and Section 11 et seq. of the Revised General Ordinances of the Township of West Orange be and are hereby amended and supplemented as follows: I. PURPOSE The purpose of this ordinance is to require owners of multi-family residents and veterinarians to comply with the terms of Chapter 10, Section 2 et seq. requiring that all dogs residing in the Township of West Orange maintain a dog license. II. CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2 SHALL BE AND HEREBY IS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED TO INCORPORATE THE FOLLOWING: § 10-2.1. Definitions. As used in this chapter: DOG Shall mean any dog, male or female. Deleted: bitch or spayed bitch DOG OF LICENSING AGE Shall mean any dog which has attained the age of seven months or which possesses a set of permanent teeth. KEEPER Shall mean any person exercising control over a dog or permitting a dog to remain on premises under his control. KENNEL Shall mean any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling dogs or breeding dogs for sale is carried on, except a pet shop. Deleted: ¶ OWNER When applied to the proprietorship of a dog shall mean and include every person having a right of property in such dog and every person who has such dog in his keeping. PET SHOP Shall mean any room or group of rooms, cage or exhibition pen, not part of a kennel, wherein dogs for sale are kept or displayed.
